The last days before the feast…

After much hard thought, I decided not to go to the Grands this year. Between school this semester and everything else, I decided to commit for Reno. I did not go to Tulsa last year–it was my hiatus–so Thanksgiving will be nice spending it again here at home. Good luck to everyone going there. Enjoy yourselves, especially when you have to wait for forever.  And be safe.

Well, it looks like at this point I will be attending the U in fall 2009. After meeting with the Academic Advisor in Chemical Engineering and the engineering advisor at SLCC; I decided that I will take a few of the prepatory classes at SLCC during the spring and summer semester.  Those classes being Elementary Chemistry I (in the spring) and II (during the summer) with the lab, Physics 2210 & 2220 and the lab, and finally Calculus II. I want to confirm this with the academic advisor at the U before I set anything into stone so I have to give them a call this week.

Last week, this was all I was doing. Plus on Tuesday, something came over me and left me feeling weary the rest of the week. I have been hitting the gates at Mike Kelley’s fairly hard the past few weeks. Although my times have not improved much–in fact the times, including everyone else’s there, is slower–I think getting some gates in before the weather declines is good. Two weeks ago I started a plyometric program to work on my strength and endurance. I did it a year ago, and within the first few weeks I went from not being able to touch the rim to grabbing onto it. This will really benefit my riding from the standpoint of track speed and for when you are at the end of the rhythm section during a close race.

In the next few days I will blog out my impressions of the first part of the Utah Jazz season.

GO JAZZ!

University of Utah

So after getting my ears blown out last night at the Metallica concert; I was given a pleasant surprise today. At the beginning of last month (October), I sent in my application for admission to the University of Utah. Since then I have been consistently checking my admission status online. For about a month, I kept seeing, “PROCESSING.” Finally last Friday, I gave them a call to check on the progress. The receptionist told me that it was currently being evaluated and that I should find out whether or not I am accepted within the next few days. Well, she did not lie. Today, I found out that my application was accepted and I will be attending the University of Utah for the Spring 2009 semester.

The next thing I have to do is attend a orientation meeting as soon as I get my student number and then meet with an academic advisor within the major I am seeking. At this point I don’t really have any idea as to what I exactly I want to go into. However, one idea that I have is geology/mining/petroleum or chemical engineering. From the research that I have done on my own time, and the research I have done with one of my professors–for a different class–at SLCC who teaches a career searching class.

After a few months of owning this domain, I finally sat down and got this thing set up. Originally I was just going to create this site like I have done with my other sites; writing the code from scratch. But I was directed to WordPress by a fellow BMXer, and thus far I have been quite impressed. Getting this CMS up and running took about five minutes. And I pretty much have what I was looking for once I downloaded a theme. If I had tried another CMS, I might have never got this site up and running. So here it is.

Be sure to keep checking out my site as you will be able to keep up to date with what is going on in my life and in BMX!
